What's For Dinner?

Yesterday, we went thrifting.

I love it when we find fun pieces like this one...

I don't know who JON is, or what exactly this was used for...
*Note: I just found out it was a karate belt holder.

But I do know that I like its new look!

What do you think of our new menu planner (that cost $1.50)?

Book Page Wreath

What do you think of my newest decoration?
And, the best part...
It cost me about $2 to make.

Want to make one?
Materials:
1-Wreath Form (got mine from the dollar store...$1)
1-Book (from the thrift store...$0.75)
Note: I used only about 1/3 of this book with 700 pgs.
Glue gun
Brown ribbon or material (you can use whatever you have from your scraps, like me)
Color Cardstock (found in my scrap paper)
Brad (again, found in my scraps)
Picture frame (one that you already have on hand or make a trip to your local thrift store)
Note:You don't need the back or the glass.

First things first, start ripping pages out of your book.
Then, make a circle pattern.

Use the circle pattern to cut circles out of your pages.

Here's what your circles should look like.

Then take your ribbon, and using your glue gun, wrap it around the wreath form.

Next, pinch the bottom of your circle and attach it to the wreath using your glue gun.
Note: I used the tip of my scissors to hold it in place, avoiding glue gun burns.

Keep attaching your circles until you have covered your wreath.

When I was done covering my wreath, I also took a lighter and singed the edges of the paper.
For the "M", I drew the letter out on my cardstock and cut it out.
Then I cut out a flower, and attached it to the "M" using a brad.
Next, hot glue the letter to the wreath and hang it in your frame!

Here It Is...

The finished product!
I finally finished my project from 2 posts ago.
So, without further ado...
Here it is.I needed a project to enter Lindsay's $5 challenge.

The idea is to create a Spring decoration using $5 worth of items from the dollar store.
You are also allowed to use any glue, paint, or fabric you already have on hand.

So, if you remember this post here, I had two dollar store pieces to work on.

I first glued them together (using Gorilla Glue)...

Then I painted it blue, the same blue as my nightstand pieces found here.

I added some brown to it.
Then, thought it needed something else to look a little more "Springy".

So, I used some tulle and a flower (both from the dollar store, also) to give it that extra something.

For a total of $4, I now have some spring decor and a place to put my jewelry at night!

PS: Don't forget, we're going to have a giveaway on post 20!
This is now post 19!

Another Shirt's Makeover

As you probably noticed, I wasn't able to finish and post about the project I had in mind.
However, I did find another shirt lying around in my closet.
Today, it got a makeover.
I initially wanted to make a ruffle dress, for my little one, out of it...
But there wasn't enough material to make a complete dress.
So, I made a half dress...aka a skirt!

I cut it up like so (and ended up not using the sleeves).
Then I hemmed the top part of the skirt, leaving enough space for the elastic.
I used 2.5 inch pieces, from the top part of the shirt, to make the ruffles.
I pinned them to the skirt, and straight stitched across the top of each ruffle.
This is the finished product, after sticking the elastic through.
Fun AND Simple!
Here's a closeup with it on.
And, here's my little model.

PS: Sorry if a lot of this didn't make sense. If you have any questions, just ask away!
Now, I'm off to bed...

Dollar Store Pieces..

Okay everyone, I'm trying and trying to post a project today.

I'm working on these two pieces...

What do you think they'll look like after I'm through with them?

Well, hopefully you'll find out a little later today.

See you then!

Friend Making Monday

I've decided to participate in:If you'd like to participate also, head on over to Amber's Blog.
PS: If you make it to the end of this post, you'll be able to enjoy some pics of me and my family.
Hope to see you at the end of this post!

I am....Jenn.

I think....we could be friends.

I should...be washing my dishes.

I dream....of someday going to Disneyland, again.

I want....to eat french fries.

I know...so many wonderful, awesome people!

I don't like....being without chocolate.

I smell...Mickey Mouse chicken nuggets.

I hear....Pocahontas music.

I fear....my computer will die soon. :( (Luckily we have 2)

I usually...skip breakfast. (I know, terrible!)

I search...blogs too often.

I miss....Hawaii.

I always...love snuggling with my little one.

I regret....not going to the gym this morning.

I wonder....when I will become the mother of 2.

I crave....french fries!

I remember...when naps were a good thing.

I need...to do some spring cleaning.

I forget....quite a bit.

I feel....like laughing.

I can....read for hours.

I can't....wait until warmer weather comes.

I am happy....when my baby's happy.

I lose....my sanity when I walk into a craft store.

I sing...in the car, but not in the shower.

I listen...to Hawaii radio stations online.

I shop.....more than my hubby likes.

I eat....too much.

I love.....LIFE!

Here's some pics of my family from last May.
Hope you enjoy them!

The Little Mermaid and her Treasures

The other day, I bought an item that was on clearance ($0.47) because it had no lid.

Here is the conversation that took place before I bought it.
Hubby: "What are you buying that for?"
Me: "I don't know.
It's only 47 cents.
I'm sure I could find something to do with it."
Hubby: Rolling Eyes

All right, Hubby, here is what I decided to do with it.
Turn it into a bank for the little one.
I was going to leave the top open for her to just drop her coins in,
but the hubby included his input,
convincing me that a slot will allow her to practice hand-eye coordination.

I used pages from this book to decoupage the sides.
Note: Next time you go to your local thrift store, make sure to look for books that you or your little ones love.
They're cheap, and can be used to make fun things.
Here's my 47 cent clearance jar, with no lid.
And the hand of my little one trying to snatch it.
I used the book pages to make four scenes (one for each side).
Then I decoupaged them to each side.
Then, with some handy foam board and a little scrap fabric, I made the top.
Cutting it to size, and gluing the fabric to the foam.
Here are close-ups of each scene.

And, the finished product again...
